5 easy ways
to increase conversion in shopify

01/04/2022

improving conversion rates for her e-commerce store

Conversion rate - aka - the percentage of visitors that converts into buyers is one of the many terms you get to hear when you enter the e-commerce world. And for a good reason - looking at your conversion rate can give you a lot of insight of your visitors. A good conversion rate is around 2-5%, and I would like to share some tips to you of how to achieve that.

01/ Offer free shipping

Who doesn't love free shipping?
Sometimes, a shipping fee can be what is stopping a visitor from buying - just for the simple reason that they don't want to pay for it. In these days many a company offers this, I would almost like to say that as buyers we are getting a little bit spoiled?

If you want to try out this tactic - a tip is to slightly increase the cost of your product, just to cover that loss a little!

02/ Make products shoppable from the homepage

We want to introduce your awesome products to possible buyers as soon as possible. Make sure that the visitor easily can find products and add them to the cart - even from the homepage. Don't hide them behind any clicks!

I would suggest putting some kind of collection right below the hero section - something like bestsellers or if you have a sale going on - just get them eyeballz on your products!

03/ Show reviews & testimonials

Social proof is a safe way to increase the chances of converting buyers. It invokes trust, and if other people have bought it and liked it - the chances are greater that I will like it too - right?

04/ Make sure your site is mobile friendly

I cannot stress this enough. Please please please think of the mobile version when you create your Shopify site. It is after all around 60% of the e-commerce traffic that happens through mobile devices. Therefore, it shouldn't just come as an afterthought, but rather being an important part already when you are laying out the site structure and creating the UI of your store.

05/ Ensure that the checkout process is as easy as possible

This means, having a clear cart icon - preferably in the top right of the browser, since this is where we are used to find it. I urge you to use the icons we connect with e-commerce, like the shopping cart or shopping bag. If it is not super clear you might risk loosing sales because the users can't find where to checkout.

I also urge you to test the buying path yourself & from different devices, just to be certain that it is easy to check out and it is nothing standing in the way of completing a purchase.

Are you already doing all of these things, but your conversion rate is still very low?
